The Captain Kidd to Host a Grand Tasting to Benefit the Falmouth Homeless
The Captain Kidd hosted a "Grand Tasting to Benefit the Homeless" on May 5th from 5-8 pm in conjunction with Falmouth's 'Belonging to Each Other' program. The Captain Kidd, together with multiple vendors graciously providing donations, provided a multiple spirit tasting with complimentary cheese, cracker, breads and meat platters along with delicious appetizers. This one night raised $3,500, a kick off to a more focused fundraising event in October hopes to provide greatly needed shelter for Falmouth residents in need.
The Belonging to Each Other program initiative addresses the needs of the homeless population in Falmouth. Their mission is to provide winter shelter to homeless individuals, this year aiding 20 individuals with most having moved into stable housing. Next year the plan is to rent a house in Falmouth for six months, from fall to spring; costing much less than sheltering the guests in motels. Health, human service and housing workers will provide the necessary assistance and resources to help each guest to be healthy, helped and housed. This initiative brings together eight Falmouth faith based communities in addition to state and town government.
"The Captain Kidd is graciously appreciative of the purveyors M.S. Walker, Guaranteed Fresh, The Clam Man and PFG for their overly generous support" said co-owners Jamie Crowley and Bill Murray, "we are so happy to be part of giving back to our community".
